Bereavement Day

As of March 23, 2011, the Order in Council of the Province of British Columbia has proclaimed the 3rd Sunday of every May as Bereavement Day in BC. This year, Bereavement Day will be May 19th, 2013.

If you or someone you know is grieving the loss of a loved one, we invite you to join us for a Service of Remembrance, Planting of Memory Seeds, and Dove Release. Bereavement Day will be held May 19th, 2013 at Mountain View Cemetary. Memory Seeds will be planted at 2:00pm in the Honour a Life Garden, followed by the Service and Dove Release.

Please register as soon as possible either using our website (please click on “Memory Seeds” on the left-hand side) or by calling the Helpline (604-738-9950 or 1-877-779-2223).

The BC Bereavement Helpline is committed to ensuring in future years that the 3rd Sunday of every May will be proclaimed “Bereavement Day” in BC. We acknowledge and support those in grief and recognize that with public awareness, compassion and education, a person’s ability to adjust to their loss is improved. We hope to one day ensure that “Bereavement Support is an Essential Service.”

We invite you to join us in commemorating this day for yourself or someone you know who is grieving.
